Orcish-English-Russian dictionary was updated with a few clarified etymologies and new words from MERP (mostly related to weapons).
Important news
Now when I have several armies, Nûrlâm is no longer considered a dialect of Black Speech conlang, but rather an independent constructed language! In the near future all mentions of phrases “dialect” and “Black Speech” will be deleted from the Black Speech School site and it's wiki.
Major revision of dictionary
A lot of words related to directions (left, top, down, etc.) were revisited. Don't worry, very few basic roots were changed, but the grammar was.
Translation of Orcish lullaby based on the Lay of Leithian was finished!
Previously, I published an Orcish lullaby based on the Lay of Leithian composed in English. And after a long time the poetical translation into Nûrlâm is now complete! You can read it at Nûrlâm's wiki.
By the way, the Nûrlâm's dictionary now has more than 2000 words! But a significant revision is coming...
Black Speech School site moved
Black Speech School site is now hosted at http://blackspeech.de domain or alternatively at http://blackspeech.tw1.ru/. Old .ru address was intercepted. Beware of any malicious activity that might be hosted at the old address!
I hope, I've fixed all internal links. You can report broken links at Discord server (link at the top of blog's main page).
Sorry for inconvenience.
Black Speech and Albanian
Reddit users have discovered that Orcish Nations site's word-list (mostly from MERP dialect) has quite a lot Albanian words. Unfortunately these words were borrowed into Svartiska and Shadowlandian dialects too. Original post. The fact of borrowing from Albanian would be OK if it wasn't almost half of the wordlist with very lazy phonetical adaptation. So, I discourage you from using MERP-derived words. The dictionaries were updated with new etymological information, but probably I've missed few words.
News from the Bronze Age
Reddit user u/get_on_my_level_son has made an amazing One Ring inscription in Hittite cuneiform (with ink and paper though, it's time to make a clay tablet 😊). Source
Announcement
In year 2013 I've started the Black Speech School site to collect all available information about various fan-invented "dialects" of Neo Black Speech, a language created by J. R. R. Tolkien for his "The Lord of the Rings" book, and translate it into Russian. This blog was started to replace site's dead forum used now only to publish news and occasional articles, which is not the best format for these activities. Moreover old forum's engine is not compatible with more up-to-date technologies I'm migrating the site to.
So, I encourage to visit Black Speech School's Discord server for actual discussion, while this blog will serve as the platform for news and rare articles. The blog will be filled with the copies of older forum's articles first in a couple of months.
